Canna indica

Common name: Caña de las Indias, Platanillo of Cuba.

Description of the plant: Height: 0.8-1.5 m. There are varieties that reach 3 m. Leaves large, oblong, green, purple, red or variegated. The flowers are grouped in inflorescences of red, orange, yellow or pink colors.

Flowering: summer well into the fall.

Exposure: sun to partial shade.

Watering: Frequent and heavy, especially in summer.
